chapel and adjoining castle gave us a private tour of the Chapel of Plaincourault. He told us that there is no doubt the fresco is that of an Amanita muscaria mushroom. Art historians debate that this is a stylized "tree;" however, the owner of the chapel has had this property in his family for generations and assured me that it was indeed an Amanita muscaria mushroom.
