On Oct 27, 1970 the Comprehensive Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Act was passed. Part II of this Act is the Controlled Substance Act CSA which described a scheduling system for drugs. It places most of the known hallucinogens in Schedule I. Included in this classification are LSD, psilocybin, psilocin, mescaline, peyote, cannabis and MDA. However, the Act did not specifically include whole magic mushrooms.
