Valentina Wasson’s own account of the magic mushroom experience was published in This Week magazine on May 19, 1957; just six days after her husband’s famous piece was published in Life Magazine. In this article, Valentina suggested that magic mushrooms have the possibility to be used as a psychotherapeutic agent. At that point she became one of the first to theorize on magic mushrooms and their possible uses in the field on psychotherapy.
To the Indians of Mexico, Psilocybe cubensis goes by the name “San Isidro.” This species of magic mushrooms is extremely psychoactive, with dried specimens of it typically yielding over 1% combined psilocybin/psilocin content.
