In the year 1904, the American mycologist Franklin Sumner Earle became the first to collect identified Psilocybe cubensis magic mushrooms in Cuba.

According to Dr. Karl L. R. Jansen, there is not any firm evidence that magic mushroom flashbacks can or do occur. However, in 1973 Dr. Hall reported that a number of magic mushroom users had been experiencing recurring flashbacks that were similar to flashbacks which were associated with LSD consumption.
