TRIP TO AMSTERDAM
Cluster headaches are a specific variety of extreme, recurring headaches. They are also called suicide headaches, which gives an idea of how painful they are to the people who suffer from them. There have been calls for medical investigation of the use of both pure psilocybin and whole magic mushrooms for the development of improved treatments for cluster headaches, following numerous anecdotal reports of benefits.

The US and British experimented with LSD on their own soldiers. They were trying to weaponize LSD and in the process discovered its real danger: LSD makes people harder to control![Note: This took place after WWII, not during it as suggested in the video.]For more videos exploring LSD and other psychedelic sacred sacraments, see http://www.yoism.org/?q=node/52If you wonder why we call them “sacraments,” here’s scientific proof that psychedelics facilitate genuine religious experiences: In 2006, researchers at the prestigious Johns Hopkins Medical School, in a controlled double blind study, showed that those administered the active ingredient found in magic mushrooms had profound religious experiences. To see a video and major media reports about that study, see http://www.yoism.org/?q=node/219
In the British Virgin Islands, where Psilocybe mushrooms naturally occur, it is legal to possess and consume psilocybin mushrooms but illegal to sell them.
Presently, magic mushroom use has been reported among a number of groups spanning from central Mexico to Oaxaca, including groups of Nahua, Mixtecs, Mixe, Mazatecs, Zapotecs, and others. The popularization of entheogens by R. Gordon Wasson, Timothy Leary, and others has also led to an explosion in the recreational use of magic mushrooms worldwide. The relatively easy availability of magic mushrooms from wild and cultivated sources has made it among the most widely used of the hallucinogenic drugs.

Extremely poisonous uncultivated mushrooms can be easily mistaken for edible magic mushrooms. Many deadly and toxic kinds of mushrooms look like some of the hallucinogenic mushrooms in the genus Psilocybe on the surface.

Another species of magic mushrooms that is extremely comparable to Psilocybe cyanescens is the species Psilocybe azurescens, which differs in minute aspects by the appearance of its pileus and somewhat longer spores, among other attibutes. A number of other European and Australian species are also similar to Psilocybe cyanescens, especially Psilocybe serbica, Psilocybe arcana, Psilocybe moravica, Psilocybe aucklandii, and Psilocybe eucalypta.

There are a number of types of ancient artifacts that indicate the antiquity of magic mushroom use in the Mesoamerica. Mushroom-shaped stones, some of which had incorporated toad designs, were found in many numbers at sites in Guatemala. These artifacts are said to have been carved between 100 BC and AD 300.
During the 16th century, the Xochipilli figure was carved. The Aztec statue depicts Xochipilli, the Prince of Flowers decorated with six psychoactive plants: mushrooms, tobacco, morning glory, sinicuichi, cacahuaxochitl, and one unidentified plant. The mushroom represented on the statue has since been identified as the magic mushroom species Psilocybe aztecorum, which is known to be only from the region around the volcano Popocatepetl where the statue was found later on.
