Hallucinogenic Psilocybe mushhrooms have been used by Mesoamerican native healers for centuries for divining the causes of illness, and also as part of psychological counseling.
In the year 1938, Schultes and Reko traveled to Mexico and gathered more specimens of different magic mushroom species. These specimens were then given to the Harvard herbarium.
