Another species of magic mushrooms that is extremely comparable to Psilocybe cyanescens is the species Psilocybe azurescens, which differs in minute aspects by the appearance of its pileus and somewhat longer spores, among other attibutes. A number of other European and Australian species are also similar to Psilocybe cyanescens, especially Psilocybe serbica, Psilocybe arcana, Psilocybe moravica, Psilocybe aucklandii, and Psilocybe eucalypta.
