The poisonous but not deadly species Chlorophyllum molybdites is often mistaken for the magic mushroom Psilocybe cubensis. Instances of these mistakes that ended up in poisonings were reported in Florida.
A specific kind of mushroom that is not of the Psilocybe or the Panaeolus genera but may still be considered as a magic mushroom is Amanita muscaria; a very similar species is Amanita pantherina. These mushrooms are being used in the United States and other countries for recreational purposes.
