In the thirties, the anthropologist Robert Weitlaner collected specimens of magic mushrooms from Mexico, which were subsequently investigated by the specialists Blas Pablo Reko and Richard Schultes . Weitlaner’s daughter later attended a native mushroom ceremony, called a velada, in 1939 but did not partake of the magic mushrooms herself.
