By the early 1970s, a number of species of psychoactive mushrooms from temperate North America, Europe, and Asia had already been sufficiently classified. Books describing techniques of cultivating Psilocybe cubensis in large quantities were also published. Collection and cultivation of magic mushrooms started to become widespread.
