Albert Hofmann (January 11, 1906 — April 29, 2008[1][2]) was a Swiss scientist best known for having been the first to synthesize, ingest and learn of the psychedelic effects of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD). Hofmann authored more than 100 scientific articles and wrote a number of books, including LSD: My Problem Child. On January 11, 2006, Hofmann became a centenarian, and the occasion of his 100th birthday was the focus of an international symposium on LSD
Due to the ease that is typically associated with the techniques of its cultivation, Psilocybe cubensis is the most commonly grown and consumed species of magic mushrooms. This distinction has caused the species to be nicknamed “the commercial psilocybe.”
