Arnold and Dexter
A stronger sense of self, a personal conviction of religious enlightenment, and a feeling of intimacy with all living thing are all possible positive long term mental effects of magic mushrooms.
In the year 1955, R. Gordon Wasson and his wife Valentina became among the first Westerners to actively participate in an indigenous mushroom ceremony. R. Gordon Wasson and photographer A. Richardson participateed in a velada led by Maria Sabina, a Mazatec native shaman who initiated Wasson into the experience of magic mushrooms. Shortly after R. Gordon’s experience, Valentina and her daughter participated in a magic mushroom ceremony of the Mazatec Indians. R. Gordon Wasson later brought back spores of the magic mushroom, which he identified as Psilocybe mexicana, to Paris.
