The magic mushroom Psilocybe mexicana is most comfortable growing at about 4000 to 5000 feet above sea level from the South of Mexico to Guatemala, particularly in limestone regions. The magic mushrooms grow sparsely in moss along trails, humid cornfields, and also near the edges of of deciduous forests. Fruiting takes place from May to October.
some physical effects may be caused by the typical dosage of magic mushrooms; an example of this is loss of appetite. Larger doses typically 2½ dry grams and above can cause numerous other physical effects. These effects may include the following: nausea, weakness in the limbs impairing the body’s ability to move, feelings of coldness, swollen features, numbness of the mouth and adjacent features, excessive yawning, and pupil dilation.
