During the 16th century, Dutch physician Pieter van Foreest described a case of a woman who was “flung into violent convulsions and the Riscus sardonicus fixed grin, or uncontrollable laughter by eating mushrooms.” It was obviously a case of accidental ingestion of magic mushrooms.
